NZFCNA Basic Introductory Course: Distance Training Modules Cost: $100 Parish nursing or faith community nursing is a specialized form of nursing practice and as such requires completion of an appropriate training course. NZFCNA is now pleased to be able to offer such education by distance learning but we also encourage you to access our yearly conferences for ongoing training and networking. Contact admin@faithnursing.co.nz for current details. The introductory course is available to MEMBERS ONLY and costs and membership forms are available from the same contact. There are 12 modules covering all aspects of the ministry from the theology of health to the practicalities of setting up in the community. Material is based upon a course developed by Dr Anne van Loon of AFCNA but has been amended to the New Zealand setting. For example there are sections on the Treaty of Waitangi and the implications of NZ legislation to the nurse working in the community. Some resources are included together with references accessible from the worldwide web. You are encouraged to read more widely as you are able and NZFCNA membership enables you access to the John Kinder Theological Library in Auckland. On successful completion of the modules, a certificate is awarded which can be included in a nursing portfolio to demonstrate achievement of specific competencies.
